Joy vs Happiness

I was talking today with a client about the difference between joy and happiness.  There is a distinction- don't you think?  I think happiness comes and goes.  Depending on our circumstances we can feel really happy about something or really not!  But, our joy is deeper than our circumstances.  Our joy comes from a different part of our soul.  Joy is more of an internal attitude we live by.  Joy is connected to our character and how we live in the world.  Joy is seen throughout our big picture perspective.  It is our internal fixed filter we see life through.  We can feel very unhappy about a current time in our life but if we tap into our joy it can overwhelm that fleeting sensation.  Joy is an inside job and not externally dependent.  I think our joy comes from a strong spiritual force within us.  We were made to live in our joy.  Let this idea sink in a little bit.  Which side do you find yourself?  If the answer isn't joy - how can you tap into this more sustaining way of thriving in life?  Don't settle for less when you were made for more.  More JOY!

Joy and happiness are essentially the same thing. In my opinion, we should not try to nitpick at every single thing in the world. If you spend your time thinking about the small difference between joy and happiness, then you will end up wasting your life. Instead of thinking about the differences between the two, then why not just experience it for yourself. Joy and happiness are emotions that you should feel, rather than conceptualizing what they mean in a literary standpoint.
