Welcome!  I love people's stories.  I've heard a lot of them over my years of work.  Here is a little bit of my story.  You might know I have been a licensed psychotherapist for 20 years now.  I have been part of a large treatment team in inpatient and outpatient settings.  I’ve run my own private practice and taught undergraduate classes.  My career has had many twists and turns.  Maybe some of you can relate.  I've also experienced this thing called burnout.  You might be able to relate to that too!   I first branched out into the coaching world in 2010.  I became a Certified Integrative Health Coach through Duke Integrative Medicine in North Carolina.  I needed a new platform to help others that was fundamentally more positive.  I wanted to do more of helping others grow, inspire and encourage instead of primarily diagnosing and treating illness.  As the years have progressed, my style has evolved into a blend of health psychology, coaching, positivity and growth focus while still retaining my therapeutic principles.  I’ve recently experienced a training focused on executive and personal coaching.  I discovered that I’ve been hesitant to leave the world of the typical therapy setting.  Diagnosing what was "wrong" with someone and then treating wasn't the path I was on any longer.  But wait!  I mean, this is what I went to school for, trained many many hours for and spent years practicing.  The prospect of change was intimidating and I was no exception.  Ever feel that way too?  Stuck?  Scared?  Unsure of yourself?  I am embracing change.  It’s the next right decision for me at this time.  It’s time to focus on growth, inspiration, partnership and leadership.  It's time to identify those small changes and tweaks to allow us to maximize what we already possess.  This is Kelly Cunningham Coaching.
